KTO Karatay University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences was established in the academic year of 2009-2010 including such departments as Electrical - Electronics Engineering,        Mechatronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering.  In the following period, all departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and finally Software Engineering were added, making this faculty one of the most advanced and strongest faculties in Turkey.

With the exception of the Department of Industrial Engineering, for which preparatory training in English is compulsory, at least 30% of the teaching in our faculty is conducted in English. Thanks to this particular approach, our graduates are capable of expressing themselves in both Turkish and English.

The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences is characterized by its high level of laboratory equipment. We have laboratories for performing experiments in the following fields: physics, chemistry, computer science, electro-electronics, electrical machines, construction, mechatronics, mechanics, numerical analysis, robotics, hydraulics-pneumatics, measurement, fluid mechanics, and installation. In modern laboratories equipped with the most up-to-date technology, our students can create their new designs under the supervision of our teaching staff, thanks to technical facilities that allow for project-based learning. For project management, there is a construction workshop, a model workshop, and a mechanical workshop.

The entire process, from initiation to the completion of the projects featured in the courses, is monitored closely through the right programs and materials. Through the education they receive in these laboratories, our students experience the environment in which they will work after graduation. On top of that, our university's Smart Technology Centre (AKİTEK) permits our students to work on embedded software development and both Internet of Things and to improve their hardware and skills by participating in projects to be launched.

Along with the Smart Technologies Center (STEDEC) project at our university, the Konya Chamber of Commerce Model Factory is yet another outstanding project that gives our students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practice. At the model factory, the process of producing pneumatic cylinders is performed so smoothly and with such flexibility using CNC lathes, CNC vertical machining centers, 3D measuring equipment, etc. that it is very easy to compare traditional and lean production techniques. Furthermore, in-house assembly lines and industrial 4.0 applications, in which the various elements of digital transformation will be more and more in use, are also being achieved within the university's own structure. At the Vocational Training Centre of the Konya Chamber of Commerce, our students are given the chance to practice metalworking on universal and CNC benches.

The syllabuses of the departments within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences are prepared following the criteria set by international accreditation bodies and considering the needs of the industry. Each syllabus consists of basic science, general engineering, and subject-specific courses, as well as social science classes. Theoretical engineering courses are complemented by practical applications and experiments. After the 4th and 6th semesters, our students are provided with two summer internships of a total of at least 20 working days and, for our upper-class students, an extra semester of optional Vocational Training in a Company. As part of their training, our students can attend courses and internships abroad with the benefit of Erasmus exchange programs at foreign universities with which we have an agreement.
