First-year students from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences' Civil Engineering Department and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design's Architecture and Interior Architecture Departments at Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Karatay University took their first step into their profession with the "Hard Hat Ceremony."

At the Hard Hat Ceremony held at KTO Karatay University, first-year students from the Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Interior Architecture departments experienced the excitement of wearing the hard hats symbolizing their professions. The ceremony was attended by Hasan Özgür Yetiştirici, President of the Konya Branch of the Chamber of Civil Engineers; Ahmet Övet, President of the Konya Branch of the Chamber of Architects; İsmail Malçok, President of the Konya Branch of the Chamber of Interior Architects; Kutalmış Ceylan, Vice President of the Konya Bar Association; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Faik Sevimli, Head of the Civil Engineering Department; Prof. Dr. Güzin Demirkan Türel, Head of the Architecture Department; Dr. Mustafa Kaş, Assistant Professor and Head of the Interior Architecture Department; along with representatives of professional organizations, academics, students, and their families

"We Want Our Students to Become Experienced Professionals in Their Fields"

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Faik Sevimli, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at KTO Karatay University’s Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, stated, “It is of great value to us that the KTO Karatay University Construction Community undertakes social responsibility projects and renovates village schools. We want our students to participate in these projects, gain field experience, and become skilled professionals in their respective fields. I firmly believe that our students, who are the future engineers, architects, and interior architects, will play significant roles in the development of our country and the welfare of our society. I congratulate our students who are taking their first steps into their professions today and wish them continued success.”

"The Hard Hat is Both a Symbol and a Great Responsibility"

The President of the Chamber of Civil Engineers Konya Branch, Hasan Özgür Yetiştirici, stated that wearing a hard hat symbolizes not only a tradition but also a great responsibility: “I am deeply honored to be part of such an important event here today. Civil engineering, architecture, and interior design are sibling disciplines. The hard hat is both a symbol and a great responsibility. As of today, I consider you my colleagues. It is very important for families to support their children in this challenging journey. I wholeheartedly encourage you to participate in the professional training programs provided by the Chamber of Civil Engineers and to enhance your personal development. I wish you success in your professional careers,” he said.

"We Are Excited About the New Projects We Will Bring to Life Together"

The President of the Interior Architects Chamber Konya Branch, İsmail Malçok, stated: “We are undertaking very valuable social responsibility projects, such as renovating village schools, together with the esteemed students of KTO Karatay University. As interior architects, architects, and civil engineers, we achieve remarkable results when we work hand in hand. We are excited about the new projects we will bring to life together with our esteemed academics and students,” he said.

The Vice President of the Konya Bar Association, Kutalmış Ceylan, stated: “Hard hat ceremonies are of great importance for students to feel a sense of belonging to their profession and to develop themselves within it. Today marks the beginning of a new journey for our students who will don their hard hats. On this journey, one of the projects we value most is the renovation of village schools, which was brought to life through the protocol signed with the KTO Karatay University Construction Community. We take great pride in being part of such social responsibility projects, thanks to the immense effort and enthusiasm of our students. I congratulate our students and wish them continued success,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with students donning their hard hats, the presentation of plaques, and a group photo session.
