The Retro Theatre Ensemble, consisting of students from Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Karatay University, brought the audience together with the play "12 Angry", which prompts reflection on justice, conscience, and prejudice. Adapted from Sidney Lumet’s classic film "12 Angry Men", the play received high praise for its chess-themed stage design and impressive acting performances.

The play "12 Angry", performed by the Retro Theatre Ensemble consisting of students from KTO Karatay University, was staged at the Mevlana Cultural Center. KTO Karatay University Rector, Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortaç, was also among the audience, showing his support for the students.

The play, prepared by students from various faculties and departments, including the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program, powerfully reflected the inner worlds of the characters and their moments of decision on stage. Through the jury members' discussions about a case, the play strikingly explored how justice is shaped and how personal biases influence decision-making processes.

"We Value Our Students' Ability to Express Themselves Through Social Activities"

Emphasizing that the students delivered an impressive performance on stage, KTO Karatay University Rector Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortaç said: "Today, we watched the play '12 Angry', performed by our Retro Theatre Ensemble. Our students delivered a remarkable performance on stage. As KTO Karatay University, we value our students' ability to express themselves better and connect with society through social activities. We will continue to organize such events more actively. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the play’s director, Konya State Theatre Artist Ms. Gülesin Gelenbevi. She has truly trained our students like professional theatre artists and made a great contribution to their performance. In the future, we will witness even bigger events together."

"I Believe Our Students Put Their Hearts into This Play"

Emphasizing the great effort students put into the play, director and Konya State Theatre Artist Gülesin Gelenbevi said: "We have been working with the Retro Theatre Ensemble since 2019. Our first play was ‘The Madman of the Neighbouring Village’. Since then, we have collaborated on many productions. Last year, we staged ‘12 Angry’ for the first time, and this year, we brought it to the stage once again. Our play explores how people, influenced by their own personal traumas, pass judgment on others. We aimed to portray this through our direction. All our students come from different academic disciplines at the university. They designed the set, costumes, and music entirely through their own efforts. I truly believe they put their hearts into this play. We warmly invite all art lovers to our next performance."

The highly acclaimed play concluded with KTO Karatay University Rector Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortaç presenting a bouquet to Konya State Theatre Artist Gülesin Gelenbevi, followed by a group photo session.
