PROF. DR. MEHMET ÇELİK Vice Rector Born in Konya in 1963, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çelik completed his primary education in the village of Aliçerçi. He pursued his education as a state-sponsored boarding school student at Pamukkale Middle School and Denizli High School. After graduating from Selçuk University in 1985, he worked as an English teacher in middle and high educational institutions. He continued his postgraduate education in Australia, obtaining master's and doctoral degrees from the Department of Linguistics at La Trobe University in Melbourne. In 1997, he began his professional career at Hacettepe University Faculty of Education, Department of English Language Teaching. He obtained the title of associate professor in English Language Teaching in 2005. In 2010, he played a role in the establishment of Hasan Kalyoncu University. In 2011, he was appointed as a professor at Bingöl University and founded the School of Foreign Languages. In 2013, he transitioned to Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Education, where he served as the Head of the Department of English Language Teaching. During this period, between 2013 and 2016, he also held the position of Head of the Foreign Language Examinations Department at the Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Since 2017, he has been serving as the Head of the English Translation and Interpretation Department and the Director of the School of Foreign Languages at KTO Karatay University. He has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, and his articles have been published not only in local journals but also in international ones in countries such as Australia, India, Egypt, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States. His research areas include second language learning and teaching, vocabulary teaching, motivation, affective factors, pronunciation and intonation, and translation (simultaneous interpretation).
