Dear Students, The Traditional Turkish Arts Department is a major that focuses on the rich artistic history of Turkish culture. In our department, our students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about various fields of Turkish art. The Traditional Turkish Arts Department at KTO Karatay University fosters a generation of artists who have adapted our traditional arts in the course of their historical development, experts in the fields of education, teaching, research, and practical applications, and selfless individuals who are willing to pass on their knowledge to the youth in society. Our students, who concentrate on art forms such as illumination, calligraphy, weaving, miniature, ornamental patterns, calligraphy, and marbling, which have a special place in Turkish culture, graduate with knowledge and equipment about the history, techniques, and aesthetics of these arts. Our students have the opportunity to graduate with two diplomas by taking advantage of the double major program (DMP). Our graduates may have the opportunity to work at National Palaces, the Directorate General of Foundations, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Municipalities as well as museums and libraries under different public institutions as artists, restorators, and experts. We are excited to be working with students who want to revive our traditional arts and carry them into the future, excavating living and disappearing products and learning scientific research methods.
