The fact that in today's fast-paced, globalized world, communication between different language groups is constantly growing, resulting in an ever more urgent need for translation services. Beyond these developments all over the world, our country's political, economic, cultural and scientific ties, relations and partnerships with the Middle East and other Arabic-speaking countries in the region are intensifying. It is a must for individuals to know how to speak the Arabic language as they are to take responsibility for continuing and carrying these activities into the future. These escalating regional and international relationships have made it absolutely crucial to develop translators to satisfy the demand for Arabic interpreters and translators. While many people in Turkey are actively pursuing translation, the number of well-trained translators who are fully cognizant of the social, cultural and political dynamics of translation is quite too few and far between. The Arabic language is one of the most spoken languages in the world. Interpreters who are able to use it proficiently are needed in public and private institutions worldwide. The main goal of our department is to raise awareness of all translation-related fields, to strengthen the theoretical knowledge of our students through practical examples, and thus to train qualified translators and future academics. Our graduates can start a translation business under the roof of a company. They might be employed in the capacity of the translator in translation offices and provide both written and verbal translation in numerous languages. They also have a chance to serve in export promotion centers or international trade consultancy offices. Depending on the customer portfolio of the enterprises, they can also be part of international trade/customer relations units. Work opportunities are available in public institutions and organizations (ministries, libraries, archives, Atatürk Institute for Culture, Language and History, etc.) as well as in the private sector in areas such as foreign trade departments and tourist guides. These professionals can be hired by publishing houses, magazines, travel agencies, newspapers, film studios and private companies, and can also establish their own translation offices. With these fond sentiments and wishes, I would like to remind you that as a department, we will always be with you, our dear students, and I wish you an academic quest full of achievements and success in the field of foreign languages. Head of Arabic Translation and Interpreting Department Prof. Dr. Tacettin UZUN
