To be able to recognize the types of interpreting and improve their translation skills
Content :
In English speaking genres, emphasis, intonation, sound level and sentence emphasis types are examined in order to increase comprehensibility, to speak effectively and to convey the purpose with less promises. Scientific development strategies, change according to individuals, memory models, coding methods and techniques in memory, the ability to think and improve the speed of the students are gained skills. In the first thirty minutes, if the translator feels fatigue, the skills to be utilized and how the target transfer from the source language is done in detail.

1 Recognizing the types of interpreting according to their form and subject (contact translation, bilateral interview translation, accompanying translation, whispered translation, video-conference translation, court interpreting, sports interpreting...
2 Continuation of the first week topics. Examining and exemplifying the difference and types of 'interpretation' and 'translation'.
3 Understanding the importance of speaking skill and developing it with exercises; enabling each student to speak on a variety of topics. ”what makes a good interpreter?” and watching “Interpreting process” videos.
4 Continuing student conversations. Turkish paraphrase exercises: Re-expressing a Turkish speech listened to in Turkish as a successor.
5 Continuation of individual conversations. Continuation of speech transfer exercises from Turkish to Turkish. Preparation for consecutive translation.
6 Making English speeches similar to the Turkish speeches made in the previous week and paraphrasing them again in English.
7 Continuation of English to English paraphrase studies and examining the results in class. Preparation for consecutive interpreting.
8 Midterm Exam
9 Introduction to consecutive translation. Consecutive translation of the watched videos from English to Turkish by dividing them into 'chunks'. Identifying and analyzing problems.
10 Examination and promotion of note-taking techniques. Listening or watching English texts, then translating them and making them take notes.
11 English-Turkish consecutive translation examples. Interpreting process (video). Six key qualities of a good interpreter (video). Note-taking techniques (video).
12 English-Turkish consecutive translation exercises. Leonardo Dicaprio (UN speech on climate change).
13 Turkish-English consecutive translation trials. Examining the results and discussing the problems.
14 The short English-Turkish and Turkish-English texts prepared by the students at home are read by themselves and translated by others. Evaluation of the period and the year.
