Dear Students; As the rate of technological and scientific development continues to escalate, the social, political, economic, and legal domains are expanding to include new activities and regulations. As the pace of change increases, so do the risks. A significant portion of the risk is related to changes in population structure. Insurance and social security programs are specialized areas that aim to reduce these risks. Nowadays, the insurance industry is booming, the instruments for covering risks are multiplying and the demand for private insurance is constantly raising. A growing industry requires a high level of expertise. Hence, insurance and social security systems are increasingly moving towards market-based rules, making this an actuarial task in addition to public regulation. The private pension system (PPS) extends the share of social security to the financial markets. Whether it's private insurance, social insurance, or individual savings accounts, the need for specialized human resources is growing every day. A good education in this field also means a good future. KTO Karatay University is the first university in Turkey to establish a department of insurance and social security at the undergraduate level, taking into account the synergies between private insurance and social security. Insurance is a method of diffusing the risks that can occur in business and professional activities, in the life and health of people, and in the security of income. As the sector grows, the need for trained human resources increases. To respond to this need, the Department of Insurance and Social Security at our university trains well-resourced and highly talented individuals for the insurance industry and produces graduates who will be valuable and have a positive impact on the industry. It is extremely critical that the insurance professional has extensive experience in many areas such as economics, business, law, finance, mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science. Our department is designed to provide our students with essential skills through the courses offered in this field. Our criterion for success is that our students fully master these two disciplines. Our department, devoted to the training of executives and experts in social and private risk management, offers a modern and innovative curriculum. We would like to greet our new students and wish them all the best in their education and in their personal lives. Head of Insurance and Social Security Department Assistant Professor Ahmet ATILGAN
