Dear Students, To be a dietitian means a health professional who helps organize individual and group nutrition plans and programs to safeguard individual health and improve quality of life, enhance individual and community self-awareness, and plan and implement a nutrition program according to the principles of nutritional science. The ultimate objectives of our department are to graduate dietitians and nutritionists who have state-of-the-art expertise, master contemporary approaches to learning, generate scientific knowledge with theoretical and experimental application skills, conduct research and facilitate the development of health in our country and in the world. The excellent publications and international qualifications of the competent academic staff and the training in a laboratory environment, which is an integral part of the applied training, are important factors that distinguish our department. In the dietetics and nutrition lab, our students can work hands-on on all the topics studied during the course and verify the results they have obtained in class. Theoretical knowledge is reinforced with exercises in the nutrition principles laboratory, while anthropometric measurements, which are critically important in the context of patient counseling and diet planning, are executed in detail in the nutritional anthropometry laboratory. Our students pursue internships in a multitude of institutions, such as public hospitals, dispensaries, healthy lifestyle centers and institutions providing mass nutrition services. Our students can be employed as clinical dietitians, diabetic dietitians, oncology dietitians, geriatric dietitians, outpatient dietitians, enteral and parenteral nutrition dietitians, bariatric surgery dietitians, dialysis dietitians, intensive care dietitians and inpatient dietitians in public and private hospitals. Furthermore, they can be found performing their duties in hospitals and medical centers, catering (hotels, canteens, restaurants), public health facilities (nursing homes, child care facilities, family health centers, kindergartens, sports schools, etc.), beauty centers, sports facilities and gyms, food and nutrition industries, educational and research institutions (universities), and physiotherapy centers. I sincerely wish all the students who have chosen to be part of the KTO Karatay University Nutrition and Dietetics Department all the best in their academic pursuits, and I cordially hope that health and happiness never leave their side.
