Dear Students,

As health advisors to women, families and communities, midwives play an important role in building healthy generations.

KTO Karatay University's Midwifery Department is dedicated to the training of midwives who have acquired research and problem-solving skills using up-to-date methods of education, who are sensitive to cultural differences, who closely follow current practices, who are sensitive to professional ethics and who focus on the needs of women.

Our academically powerful staff is deeply committed to the development of professional midwives. Our department's obstetrics laboratory is furnished with simulators, models and laboratory materials. By means of this laboratory, our students can further develop their clinical skills using an advanced model for the examination of pregnant women, a model of the development process of the embryo and fetus, a model of the uterus, a model of the internal and external genital structure of the woman, a model of the placenta, a set of modules for monitoring the opening of labor, a simulator for suturing episiotomies, a model for family planning training, and other tools and equipment used in labor and delivery. This ensures that they are well-equipped for business life after graduation.

Furthermore, students in our obstetrics department have full advantage of a comprehensive range of internships at Medicana hospital and other hospitals that have an affiliation agreement with our university.

Graduates of our department are able to find employment in public or private health-related institutions and organizations, gynecological and pediatric hospitals, child education courses, family planning and maternal and child health centers, and in the management of midwifery services, taking the title of "midwife". They can self-perform their own services as independent midwives. At the same time, their post-graduate training enables all of them to be employed in healthcare facilities as skilled midwives and in institutions of higher education as academics.

While I wish our students who will perform under the title of “midwife” to embrace the spiritual meaning of their profession as well as to be successful in their own education and career journey.
