Objectives : In the first step of midwifery undergraduate education, it aims to gain awareness about the historical development of the profession, to adopt the philosophy of midwifery care and to explain the basic concepts of midwifery, human-environment-health-disease and midwifery.
Content : The history of birth, the definition of midwifery and the historical development of midwifery in the world and in our country, midwifery care philosophy, basic ethical values in midwifery practices, midwifery care models, midwifery models in developed countries, human-environment, health-disease and midwifery basic concepts are explained.
